Mea Culpa

Mea Culpa

As of late, I have succumb to one of America's national pop culture obsessions: singing talent shows.  It starts with its intriguing scheduling model; running two new episodes two days in a row each week (Sunday and Monday nights).  And then, I'm not sure if it's just me or if there really is something going on, but the crop of top 10 finalists this season seem more diverse, more talented, and more accessible than in past seasons.  Granted, each contestant has a tear-jerking life story which has brought them to this moment of burgeoning fame (which is not always easy when you are only 16 years old - I mean really, how much "life story" can you have).  Suffice to say, modern society is rife with way too many traumatizing things that can happen even before your age of majority.

I know that for the 60+ of you out there (I mean the quantity of 60+ followers, not a reference to some of our ages being 60+) the fact that I may miss a Monday morning publishing of this here blog might not be the end of the world for you.  Nor is it the end of the world for me, but I do like to see the challenge of staying timely and topical as a goal for me to strive to attain on a weekly basis.  So, sorry for the tardiness, and idle-ness.

- I received four more vaccination shots last Friday; toward my ongoing regimen of inoculations over the coming year.

- My recent blood work came back with my vacillating hemoglobin level at 12.4 (last month was 13).

- I have good color, good stamina, and good vibes.

- Overall I'm feeling awesome - thanks for asking.

Time to get back to the DVR to watch Alejandro Aranda sing Justin Bieber's "Sorry" one more time (seems poignant for the occasion).  Man, the dude can pluck that geetar!

PS: I'm still pushing my idea of a singing talent show for adult contestants (must be a minimum of 40 years old to qualify) who put their musical careers on hold for some loftier familial goal and now are coming back for a "Second Chance."
