Cancer Diet

Cancer Diet

I suspect that you knew one day I was going to exploit the Internet sensation that has become the Cancer Man blog. Well, I confess that that day has arrived. I'm here today to tell you (sell you) about the Cancer Diet to end all Cancer Diets. And it can be summed up in three simple words - to make it easier to remember (cuz that's what we marketing folks do; come up with a catchy way to worm our products into your subconscious and propagate within the deep recesses of your brain for a lasting buying experience). That easy mantra is: Yogurt, Yoga & Yago. And the easy payment plan is only 3 simple monthly installments of $19.95

Yogurt: This truly is a superfood. It comes in a variety of delicious flavors (as well as Greek, Lowfat and other healthy alternatives); is a cool/sweet treat (sorta like eating ice cream); and is loaded with probiotics (those of us who have attained a certain chronological status understand the value of poop-biotics).

Yoga: Yoga began as an ancient practice that originated in India circa 3000 B.C. - so its value is time-tested. It's hard to imagine that a collection of stretches and reaches could have any aerobic or athletic benefits, but once you try it you will "feel the heat" and your physiological life will be transformed.

Yago: Yago (as in Yago Sangria) is a delightful, refreshing, low-calorie lightly alcoholic beverage available in red or white - for all of life's partying or dining occasions. Don't let the simplicity or frivolity of this sparkling beverage mask its medicinal benefits.

Disclaimer: As evidenced by the Mohawk of Sarcasm displayed at the beginning of this posting, it's all just a joke (JK!). But here's the real part (no Mohawk).

Eating healthy whenever the opportunity or choice allows is one small way to mix the pleasure of a meal with the responsibility of good food. We live in a time of menu alternatives like no other, and whether you like to cook at home or go out for a meal - the culinary landscape is littered with positive possibilities. Try it / you'll like it (and your body will appreciate it).

Infusing even a modicum of movement into your daily life will pay you back in dividends. If parenting is about finding those subtle teaching moments, then good health is about finding (taking) those exercise moments. Park a little farther away from the Mall entrance (thank you, Jenny Craig); walk up (or down) that flight of stairs - and forego the escalator; purposely go the wrong/long way around the venue at your next concert or sporting event - You'll be "there" before you know it, and the added steps are worth the investment.

Yago Sangria (no endorsement money was earned here), is not the exclusive magic elixir. But it is symbolic of relaxing and enjoying the simple pleasures of life (and it fulfills my love of alliterations). Whatever you enjoy most (or is legal in your state) as a form of momentary escape from the crush of our modern lives, is an important ingredient in the recipe for quality living.

Will any of this prevent you from getting cancer? Sadly "No." But will it add incrementally to the enjoyment of your time (may it be long and fruitful), before we shuffle off this mortal coil? "Yes."
