CDC recommends moderately to severely immunocompromised people consider receiving an additional (third) dose of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) at least 28 days after the completion of the initial 2-dose mRNA COVID-19 vaccine series.

If ever there was a government policy that spoke directly to me, then this is it.  I have been reading the ongoing dialogue about the efficacy of the vaccination for those of us who ARE immunocompromised, and that conversation has only increased with the emergence/expansion of the Delta variant.  Given a reasonable amount of time for evidence, the "chatter" has now turned into data, and this aforementioned reco has wisely been released.

Do I think this proves that my initial Moderna 2-shot course of prevention was inferior?  No!  Seat belts have evolved/improved in cars over the years, and now even harness seat belts are becoming SOP on airplanes (but only for the more valuable lives of first-class passengers, by the way).  Do I think that the government is just trying to nefariously inject more rushed and unproven poison into my system?  No!  And I already have plenty of chemo poison in me, which is saving my life --- so bring it.  Do I think that this is a prime example of modern medicine doing what it should be doing - constantly improving their product and protecting us?  Yes.  And since it is essentially free to us, it's not even mercenary profiteering.

The annual Flu shot is technically a "booster" that builds upon the immunizing powers of the previous year/years vaccination, with the added benefit of an updated formula to address emerging new strains of influenza (it's a Charles Darwin, natural selection, viruses mutate faster as they spread; especially through any unvaccinated populations - kinda thing).  The same is happening with the Covid-19 virus and the mutation of Delta and Lambda - hence the need for the booster to address these variants.  We should begin to contemplate the likely inevitability that Covid 19 is here to stay in one form or another (like the Flu and common cold and cancer; all of which are increasingly beaten back better by new and improved medical weaponry), ergo an annual augmentation is very likely going to be the norm.

I'm a booster booster, so shoot me now, and keep the upgrades coming, thank you very much!
